Default Buying a Power Sander

i'm looking to buy a sander to use on the house like sanding paint off the exterior for repainting, and perhaps sanding coffee tables for repainting as well. what do you guys think of this $40 craftsman one? good quality and durable? or would you guys advise otherwise? thanks.

IMO those little vibrating things suck. they have no power. get a belt sander and you'll be much happier. the advantage to those though is that theyre quieter and you can do corners with em.

oic... so that's what you would recommend for jobs like sanding the garage door and house trim?

edit.... i think belt sanders will be too much for a house trim job. so i'm guessing random orbital sanders would be the best way to go, right?

edit 2: aight, now i'm thinking about the makita random orbit sander BO5010. what do you guys think? remember... i'm a newbie to sanders.

ya i guess for house trim you're right, the orbital sander would be better. if you need to sand a large area you will be frustrated with it though.
