Default quiet PC case?

what do you guys think if a really really quiet case? I'll be building a new pc soon and i wanna know waht u guys think is the quietest. I'm thinking something acrylic, anyone got any suggestions, the pc i have now is not extremely loud, but i'm sure it could be a bit quieter. I have an aluminum case now.

the quiest one is one without a fan...

I only know of one that exists. it's fuggin heavy because the entire case acts as a heat sink and it's also fuggly.

but that is the quiest case that I know. made by a korean company.

after that most of the apples are very quiet with some of them not having fans (I think the cube does not have fans)

larger slower moving fans or water cooling. the material of the case does not matter for noise, its the fans inside it that determine the noise. instead of a 3000rpm 80mm exhaust fan on the case, find ones that use a 120mm fan. also find ones that use temperature dependant fan speeds, that should help quiet it down when you're not doing anything intensive.

my dell at work is almost absolutely silent. it has one large fan with an air duct to the processor, and a fan on the power supply. no fan on the huge processor heatsink. i can really only hear it if i put my head right next to the case.

my PC at home is a different story. two fans mounted to the case walls. fan on the processor. fan on the power supply. it's louder than what would be ideal, but it doesn't really bother me.

however, i just put together a PC for my girlfriend's brother, with an almost identical fan setup, and his is much quieter. i think the reason why is his fan ports are less obstructed than mine.

The cube only has a fan if you put in an aftermarket videocard, and the older slot-loading iMacs were also convection-cooled only.

I know what case you're talking about (the fanless one), and I can't say I'm a big fan (bleh, no pun intended) of it.

A good watercooled system might be your best bet...

Another solution you may want to look into is sound deadening internal to the case. When I did research on Dynamat™ type products for the Teg, I found that Cascade Audio Engineering also made anti-resonance mats for tower and minitower type cases. the primary focus for the mat may be to dampen internal drive noises more than fan noise, however. I :dunno:

In concert with an oversized fan and a generous heat sink, you ought to do quite nicely.

I would worry about the heat retention qualities of those materials though...
