I'm sorry to hear of your plight. IME, Sony products have held up quite nicely.Aside from one VCR, which was made defunct by a Philips DVD-Recorder, I've had nothing but good results with Sony's products. Both my PSX and PS2 run solidly, as does a truly ancient cassete Walkman, Portable Radio, and a few sets of earphones and headphones over the last 10 years or so.
h:OTOH, I've had awful woes with RCA and GE Televisions. utter crap IME. :dunno: Go figure.

I've got a Sony home receiver and CD changer that date back to '98, they still work great. Also have a DVD player from '02 and a Wega tv from '03. No problems with those either.
Their car head units are alright but stuff like speakers isn't really their forte for either home or car. Their amps are also pretty stupid looking.
