Is it normal to refer to your gf/bf as just "friend"?

And thanks to everyone else for their opinions.

She acts like that around us. Others I don't know.
Here's what comes to mind:
The term "friend" is rediculously ambiguous, particularly if you're looking to cement a lasting relationship. Rather than blow up at her, simply talk to her in a honest and calm manner - let her know how you feel about her "flirting" with others. Then let her respond.
There's no reason for you to get hurt on account of her behavior. If she wants out of the relationship to go flirt, then let her go IMHO.

This is the perfect opportunity to have a 2nd gf. Then if she gets upset, just say well I was under the impression we were just friends. Didn't think you'd have a problem with it. If it bothers her, this will straighten her out. If she doesn't get upset forget about her and work on the new gf.
Not cool. If I found out a girlfriend was doing that to me, she'd get a very stern talking to.
Girls are shady, but when they pull that kinda shit... it's bad. It's not a slip of the tongue... it's a calculated attempt to make themselves seem available.
