Default good ammo??

i'm going to be getting my glock21 this week, so i'll need some .45 acp ammo. what kind would you guys reccomend? i'll get a bunch for target practicing, and some hollowtips for home security.

any suggestions are welcome.

Hmm... you got me there. I don't buy any domestically produced commercial ammo... all the junk I buy is old milsurp stuff (8mm Mauser, 6.5 Carcano, 7.62x54R, etc) or foriegn commercial stuff (S&B 7.62x54R, 7.62x39mm)

The best I can say is buy as many boxes of different brands as you can get and try them yourself. Try to stick to softpoints for self defense until you can figure out if the gun will digest hollowpoints and the like with 100% reliability.

im a noobie at this firearms stuff, some im just regurgitating some stuff ive read.

dont forget that a round you may practice shooting 500 or 1000 times with at the range wont be the same round that you use at home for security purposes. hopefully youll never have to squeeze off any rounds in the house, but if ever you do, dont forget that that round will behave differently coming out the barrel.

anyway, the ONE time ive gone shooting, it was of rounds found at walmart. h: the white box of winchester .40 SW.

when a hollow tip hits a person it will go thru.. ie; if it hits your leg most likely u will have an entry and exit wound with no bullet. h:

someone wanna go into more detail? h:
