bottom line...we cant change iraq, nor can we blow it up...best thing IMO is to get the f*ck outta there.
I agree with rich...we really need to get the hell outta there...it's obvious that they want us out of their countries more than they want us to remain...

according to the websites video:
"In the streets, the people were chanting "Fellujah is the graveyard of the Americans"
"The two cars were attacked with small-arms fire and rocket guided grenades"
...Thats really brutal...

well im not going to call you ignorant im going to call you dumb as f*!@. Its real easy for you to sit in front of your computer and talk like that but there are people in the USA that do the same shit, does that mean we should blow our country up. NO it means you sacrifice to stop it even if it does mean losing soldiers and i know what its like im in the Army and ive been in iraq and watched 2 people die right in front of me for no reason except insuring that people like you that take freedom for granted can talk shit about us being at war with another country trying to give a smaller country a chance for a good life.what about the guy in the South a few years back that drug the little girl behind his pickup truck. does that make us the same as iraqis. No it just means that its not everyone that ruins a country its a few that ruin it for everyone and that is what we are getting rid of. Its also really easy to say we have no business over there only because you have no idea about anything that goes on over there your judgment is based on newspaper and internet articles that tell you what you want to hear. Like it or not there are people that are dying everyday to defend a country that takes everything for granted. Ask anyone in the military they would gladly give there life to protect even someone as small as you and not think twice about it. Even after reading your dumb response to this thread i would still give my life for yours because thats what we do put our life on the line to protect yours so please show a little more respect towards your country and people protecting it. BTW insulting the reasons we are at war is the same thing as insulting me and any other person serving the USA in the military so i did take that and all the other dumb remarks in this thread personal.

Clarification. Everyone always says "After the war ended", but in reality it was "After the United States stopped offensive maneuvers in Iraq".

Not really the end of the war, just the end of the offensive push to take over the country.

It would seem logical to me that more people would die while standing around, than did while pushing through the desert with full air and ground support annihilating a defined enemy.

Yanno?

Out of the 10 to 30,000,000 Iraqi's we're seeing around 1 or 2 attacks (sometimes successful) on Americans a day.

I would venture to say that the amount of Iraqi's that don't want us there, just based on that little piece of evidence (even if it was 50 attacks a day!) is extremely low compared to the population of people who are either indifferent, neutral, or love us there.

If the majority didnt want us there, we'd see THOUSANDS of attacks every single day, and hundreds of casualties every single day.

Pulling out is, imho, even more ridiculous an idea than going in in the first place.

We went in, toppled a government, killed their army, injured and killed innocents, as well as losing our own casualties. We are not going to chicken out, run tail and hide after doing all that. We'd be dooming the Iraqi people to a government even worse than the last, in addition to the social and economic chaos that would occur when we left.

We made the mess, now we gotta clean it up like big boys.

Here's the problem. We're occupying their country and setting up a government for them, and we say "oh yeah don't worry, we're not really occupying your country, we're just staying here until things are stable enough." To someone who lives in Iraq that sure seems like, "we're occupying your country."

Now I'm not saying we shouldn't help to keep order, or that we should just get the hell out of there ASAP, but we are very much occupying their country and even if it's for supposedly benevolent reasons you can't expect an occupied country to just lay down and be like "fine."

The phrase used by our own military and government was "end of major combat."

I do recall one other particular conflict in which we never had full air and ground support for purposes of annihilating a defined enemy...Vietnam.

It takes time.

After Germany fell from the Nazi's, we were in much the same boat for about 2.5 years before any real change started happening, within 5 years all the violence against the Americans and occupying forces had all but quit.

It takes time, we just gotta stick it out and support our troops that are over there.
