Default Help Me Pick New Tires

Well I rotated my tires this week and noticed that its that time to invest in some new tires. So I went tire shopping today and got some quotes. I was hoping that HAN might be able to point me in the right direction as to which tire to go with.

FireHawk "Indy 500" 205/50/15
$399.66 for all 4

Potenza RE910 205/50/15
$487.00

Yokahama YK420
$427 (this includes free replacement if under 60,000 miles)

So I would appreciate your feedback as to these choices. Also if any of you have other kinds let me know. I am looking for an all-season tire, plus I am on the freeway frequently. Thanks guy's and gal's.

RE910's are very noisy...i've never tried the others. they're also a "T" rated tire the last time i checked.

What does that "T" rating exactly mean. The salesman seemed to talk out of his ass when I asked my questions so I didn't really believe him. Whats your take on the different tire sizes?

t rated tires are stable up to 118mph. next ratings up are H (130mph) and V (149mph). your Si came with V rated tires. even if you never drive past 118mph, it's one of those "just in case" things, because the car is capable of ~130mph.

a lot of people go with 205/50/15 on stock 15x6 rims. i think it's a little ugly though, the sidewalls look like balloons.

Thanks for the clarification. Yea, the guy at Discount Tire said that 205/50/15 don't look very good. He also said that he wouldn't recommend them on stock wheels. I couldn't figure out why he would say that? :dunno: I would prefer to stick with the 195/55/15.

yeah 205's like to bulge out...from the side it looks pretty nasty. on the bright side, you have extra protection if you hit a curb :chuckles:

I like the firehawk indy 500's. I personally have them on my car. They grip very well, and are not very loud. I give them an A+ and would buy again.

205 tires kick ass. I have 205/50R15 on my 15'' Rotas. I like that they stick out, it looks better than that dipping in shit. Plus it saves your rim should you visit the curb.

Dunlop SP Sport 5000 205/50-15 are $420 for a set of four plus shipping. I would highly recommend these over the options you have posted.

Unless you need snow traction, you might as well get a summer tire. Pretty much all of them are designed to go through both dry and rainy conditions (with the exception of a select few dry-oriented models). The only thing that makes a tire "all season" is that it has a mud & snow rating.
