The most useful toolbar I've ever seen is the AOL toolbar that will come with the next version of the client software.

This toolbar gives you instant access to the Google search engine, AOL email server, newsgroups, weather, IM messaging, and a number of other items that you can custom configure. Popup blocking's a given, of course.

The other toolbar that I play with is the Alexa Toolbar because, although it is a kind of spyware, it records my visits to HAN in aid of showing how we're doing in the ratings.

You'll notice that Alexa allowed us to show and prove that for the first time in years, HAN was actually more popular than that other Web board.

If you'd like to show your Web visits in the Alexa database, you can download the Alexa toolbar at http://download.alexa.com/alexa7/sta...Dest_W_b_40_T1. At this particular stage in our development, it might be helpful for those of us who visit HAN exclusively for our automotive related entertainment to download the toolbar.

Remember that this is a kind of spyware, and your visits to all sites via MSIE will be shown in the database. If you visit sites that you don't want to show in the Alexa database (other automotive Web boards, the Hansard or whatever), then you can use Netscape or another browser.

Alexa does not work inside the AOL client. If your primary ISP is America Online, then you can dial in and then browse HAN with MSIE outside the client, and your visits will be recorded.

It's wonderful to be able to show the world that HAN really is becoming the better place to be!

 

i use google...mostly for pop up but lately ive found myself using the search thing. i moved it from the bottomm up to the top bar so its next to the menu and what not so its not taking up anymore of my precious han

 

i use both alexa & google toolbars.. mostly for pagerank info and alexa info
