GT is a DVD, as most games for PS2 are now. You're probably getting the dreaded DRE (disc read error) right? Get a lense cleaner, either DVD or CD will be fine. If you're hearing loud clicks, you'll probably need to grease the rails or replace the whole lense assembly.
