ATT (and consequently now Cingular) has amazing coverage in the Bay Area.
Down in Southern California it's a different story though. I get much better coverage with Verizon than my friends do with ATT or Cingular.
Up here though, Rich; you'll effectivly be having both networks working for you -- and both are good up here. I doubt you'll notice any "spots" that you didn't used to get service, that you do now. Just because, it wasn't like Cingular had some massive network that out-performed ATT's in the first place. Now, if you were a Cingular user and this was happening, oh man you'd be loving life because your network would have just gotten HUGE.

You guys know that in the west region, we put up another couple hundred towers. And erecently, we expanded our digitl coverage so much that our only competition that comes close to our coverage is verizon. Even then, they are spottey throughout the area. We are also the only company out there that offers true no roaming charges both on and off our network.
argh....it can't get any worse than this!
I really hate Cingular and I hate paying over $100 a month for their shietty service and killer roaming costs. Now they buying AT&T wireless....hopefully, they can get more up to date phones and such with this acquisition.
I am switching to T-Mobile once my Cingaylar contract expires.
