comparing your old honda and a new mb for electrical problems? come on.

and the MB E classes were not recalled because they couldn't figure out how to get the navi to work. the owners were given the option of either getting the price of the navi back or mb buying back the car from them at the purchase price, because they could not retrofit the navi into the early cars.

Couldn't retrofit sounds a whole like like "couldn't get to work" to me.

Nothing can touch a Japanese car in electrical quality. They have their shit together.

Getting back to the C55... I had a thought last night.
If MBZ /AMG are going to go with the big block route again, I wonder what Brabus and Kleemann will offer in response. A factory C55 is darned close to Brabus' own C67 offering.
It seems to me, that if the C55 is the new tuning strategy for the factory, then the elite aftermarket tuning firms will need to differentiate themselves from AMG. Perhaps this will mean aftermarket S/C's from Brabus..a firm that has long since chose displacement as it's priniciple means of power production...

oh please. apples and oranges. their electrical systems are half as complicated.

let's see, an entry-level mercedes might have:
- power everything (auto-up/down power windows, auto-open sunroof, etc.)
- rain sensors, night sensors (which work to turn on your headlights if you want and auto-dim your mirrors), ABS, traction control, garage door opener, cruise control, dual-climate controls, etc.
- instrument cluster display where you can do things like: put the car into "dyno mode", which completely disables traction control and ABS; see your gas milage overall or since car was started; check battery voltage, check oil level, control your headunit, etc.
- fiber optic ring (headunit, amp, phone (if so equipped), cd changer (if so equipped), etc.)
- front/side airbags

an entry-level japanese car might have:
- maybe power windows (maybe auto-down)/maybe door locks/power steering (obviously, who doesn't)
- no ABS, no traction control (as if it needs it), no cruise
- run-of-the-mill cluster, probably not even a tach
- run-of-the-mill headunit
- fiber optics? ha!
- front airbags

and even if you compare ones in the same price range, you think the jap car is going to have even half the shit a mercedes does? yeah right. of course the japs "have their shit together". their shit is the same old shit.

I rather have my tried and true features work perfect for the life of the vehicle than have some fancy new shit that isn't going to work right at all.

New COROLLAs have night sensing headlights, most every non POS economy car today comes with ABS or the option of cruise control. Traction control is no big deal, MKIV Supras had them way back in the day.

- instrument cluster display where you can do things like: put the car into "dyno mode", which completely disables traction control and ABS; see your gas milage overall or since car was started; check battery voltage, check oil level, control your headunit, etc.

I know my girlfriends Dad's Acura MDX has that gas mileage estimator, I believe the Sienna had that also. Even old ass Truck and 4Runners had voltage gauges. And most Toyotas I've seen with traction control have the "TRAC OFF" button.

- front/side airbags

Scions now even have knee air bags

i dont know about the whole mercedes stuff not being good. my dad owns a s500 and it has yet to break or anything...its got some sweet features. like the adaptive cruise control saves from like falling sleep at the wheel while on cruising and then cruising into a back of a truck even thought its not made for that but itd work. or the bluetooth capability his cell phone autoconnects to the car..which is sweet
