are all kits about as bright as the one in the pic?

Depends on the K level, 4000k is generally the best for output light 5000k and 6000k will have a light blue hint to it. but as teh K level goes higher so does the color, but the light output and functionality decreases and it basically becomes show colors.

I have a 4500 Catz kit and they're just bright, with almost no color. Get the 6000k bulbs and you'll have a brightness with a hue of purpleish.

I'd have to say that kit on the civic isn't properly installed...talk about blinding other drivers. It should have a fairly clear cut off point...and that one doesn't.

i think that pic is either misaligned or he has one of the kits that lets you have low beam and high beam and they have the high beam on.
