Saw something cool.
Well maybe not to you guys... but it was a real SUV. An old RHD Land Rover from the 1970s. It was in pristine condition and was gone before I could yank the camera to take a picture. But its similar to this one:

I agree with your perspective entirely. And that Defender SWB in the pic you posted is highly similar to the very first versions that were built following the end of WWII. Exterior design is almost identical.
The chair of COM's math department has an affinity for old British motorcars. In his stable he has a Triumph TR3, a Bugeye Sprite, a 1968 Rover 3500 and a 1953 Defender 90 SWB that's been in the family since new....now with over 550,000mi on the odo. Aside from std maintenance...the entire drivetrain is original. Pretty damned impressive.
