sylvania cool blue/ hyper white vs GE cool blue/hyper white
ok so i noticed that tons of people have the sylvania bulbs in their cars. well i was in a shop today and they had GE bulbs that were the same size (no mod needed) and they were cool blue and hyper white as well. the price was about the same, i think the GE was a little cheaper actually. is sylvania that much better that its worth the time to mod my headlight? or should i get the GE?
i think you're talkin about the 9005 conversion right?
well if you buy 9006 silverstars, then i don't think the light output will be as good as doing the 9005 conversion. the whole point of the 9005 conversion is the brightness of a 9005 bulb compared to a 9006 bulb.
but if you're talkin about just using regular 9006 bulbs, i'm not sure which bulbs will give the best light output. i'd stay away from anything "cool blue". just another reason to have the cops pickin on you.

yeah i know that either way im gonna have to do moulding if i do the 9005 conversion but right now, esp since my parents might get it for me. im lookin for a quick fix to brighten my lamps
I think silverstars/PIAA are a waste of money. I have PIAA superwhites and really should have just spent $18 on a set of GE superblues. Same thing, there is nothing special about the PIAA ones other than the price (IMO).
go w/ either the phillips weathervision ( or sylvania equivalent ones ) if u want extra light output, or the cool/super blues if u want white light. the 9005--> 9006 conversion is also a good idea.
The color or "temperature rating" of the bulb has no effect on light output, and in most cases, higher temperature bulbs put out less light because they filter out certain colors to yield such a "high temp" looking color of light.

well i mean, the halogen design (xtravision/weathervision/etc) that puts out ~30% more light than the typical halogen design.
the xtravision is essentially the same idea/design as phillips weathervision, i used the wrong brand term.
where did you see that the silverstars are the 30%+ halogens w/ a blue filter (and silver exterior i think)? I haven't seen that anywhere, and it sounds interesting if it was true though.

When you say "brighter", do you mean light output is greater on the silverstars than the cool blues/ (or whatever sylvania has for their blue bulb/white light bulbs)? Or do you mean the light color/temp is appearingly brighter?
And when u say the silverstars are brighter than the cool blues, are you comparing same cars (friend's 02 accord had much brighter low beams than my 94 w/ the same bulbs)?
I want to know for sure whether the silverstars put out more light, or if they only appear to be brighter because the color of the light appears brighter to the naked eye.
