Ping: PS2 gamers.
How do you set up surround sound with the PS2?
I have a Dolby Digital / DTS decoder/amplifier, an optical cable to hook them up and a S-Video cable for the video.
I checked into the console settings to enable the optical output.
I tried one game so far which is SoulCalibur 2 and it has Surround settings for its options, but for some reason, my decoder only detect stereo. My Xbox hooks up and play surround with no problems (after checking some settings in the dashboard).
Anyone?

make sure you dont have the analog aufio L & R plugs connected. It will not work if you have those plugged in as well. make sure only VIDEO is in if you want to go from console to tv set.

I am using a madcatz s-video cable that has input for xbox, gamecube and ps2. Only the PS2 is hooked up for now.
