i like Tamiya i have an old school TA03 pro. front engine belt driven awd. I got a 4 dr 3 series body for it but never painted it
h:
Tamiya is good for beginners. their built is better than HPI. but if you want smaller ones. go for the micros from hpi. those are sick

I've always had good experiences with Tamiya r/c cars. Had an old Grasshopper and a Frog.
Loads more power and faster with a gas powered car but you can recharge an electric one and theyre quieter too. Electric has always worked for me.

if you have to choose between those two, the Sprint is a better car since it has more user replacable parts. The Dash kit is more of a 10yr old's RC car. If you can afford it and have time to put one together, get the Pro4 or Pro3 from but in that price range I'd rather just get a RTR gas car.
yeh, HPI makes great gas powered cars... the kits are easy to assemble and the quality is great. i have an hpi nitro rs42 road car and hpi nitro mt... the only complaint i have about my rs42 is that i get rocks and junk stuck in the belts, but they solved that with the rs43 and it's shaft driven setup.
I have an Associated Nitro TC3 RTR. It seems to be more durable than HPI's. I'd say either one would be good. Gas > electric. Electric only last 4-6 mins, then you have to recharge for 20 mins+. It's also not good to recharge the batteries more than 2 times in one day. Gas allows you to run longer, go faster, but you have to take a break every so often so it has time to cool off.
dunno if I've ever said it here but yea, HPI has tons of aftermarket support like Hondas these days so you'll never have a shortage of replacement/hop up parts for your car. Try finding parts for a Traxxas gas car, took the store 2 months to get me a replacement shock tower I broke when my car flipped
