Broken Automatic Seat Belt/'93 Acura Integra RS
Hi. You all helped me once with the question of which new tires would be best for my beloved '93 Acura Integra RS. I got a set of lovely Yokos, on your suggestion, and love them! Now I have a new problem. The automatic seat belt on the passenger side went forward, stopped and wouldn't move. Then the dinger/beeper started up double time and the seat belt light started blinking continuously. I took it to my mechanic who pushed the seat belt mechanism to the back, closed position, disconnected a big plug on that mini motherboard under the dashboard so now I'm doing it all manually. The nearest Acura Agency is 6 hours away and my mechanic, who used to be on the Jaguar racing pit crew and is very good, is willing to work with me. At least the dinger/beeper stopped. It was driving me crazy. Any suggestions?
Usually when people have issues with their automatic belts I tell them to go to a dealer because the US government requires all carmakers to provide lifetime warranties on seat belts and their related parts.
If that option isn't available then you'll have to get your mechanic to troubleshoot the automatic seatbelt system. It could be a busted motor, something wrong with the control unit (the "mini motherboard"), or simply a bad wiring connection. If your guy has the shop manual for the car there is a troubleshooting section which starts on page 23-245, assuming he has a 1993 manaual like mine.
