I've never had a problem with comcast. No drops, no problems, constant fast speeds.

Must be your area...?

my friend's comcast is about 3.2-3.8Mbps or about 400kb/s - 475kb/s. My DSL is stable at 1.2mbps ~ 153kb/s

jezz this again.

speeds will vary depending on where you are and who else is using it. it will also depend on where you are downloading from. do not expect to be able to download 24356mB/sec from microsoft and get that same rate while trying to watch some Bait`n`Tackle Tips from Bob's Country Kitchen website running off his home dsl connection.

While I'm partial to dsl cause I work for one... it depends on your area. Don't bust on the whole service just cause your's sucks. Especially with cable, cable is more shared than dsl and it only takes one person on your node to make the whole node crap.

My parents have Comcast at their house and I have no problems with it while visiting. Well I should rephrase that. For the first couple of days I got here my browsing was uber-shitty but that turned out to be nothing more than the crappy DNS servers that their modem used as a default. Switched to another DNS and it's been fine since then.

Well you're complaining about the maximum data transfer speed which has nothing to do with DNS servers. So that wouldn't really fix your issue.
