Whiney RX-8 owners
Go to www.rx8forums.com and you'll find, for the most part, happy owners of RX-8s. I think you just got the wrong board. I drove the automatic version (there were no manuals in stock at the time!) and I was pretty impressed with the car. Its actually pretty fast, although you won't be able to race S2000s or 350Zs, but I guess in the bang-for-your-buck performance department it lags a bit behind what most people would consider its logical competitors (regardless if they are or not). If I had a $30k+ car sittin in my garage I wouldn't be moaning and bitching at all.
I've driven one too so I know how it feels.
Mainly these people are complaining about the remote possibility of flooding their motor that has always existed with rotary engines and is simply part of their design and has no real way around it. The other complaints center around the fact that the EPA mileage is something like 18/24 mpg (city/highway) and some people are getting 13 mpg in combined driving. News flash to them, the FD RX-7 was rated at 17/25 and it gets crappy mileage too. The EPA test is not very reliable for rotary engines.
From what I've seen there really aren't that many complaints about it being slower than an S2000 or 350Z. In fact from what I can tell a lot of the people who are complaining cross-shopped it against things like the TSX or the IS300.

If you worked hard for that 30k, bought it yourself, and you had some rather justified problems with the car, I think you would.
Okay, to crystallize my whole point into one nugget of truth:
The only problems with the car are ones that are endemic to the rotary engine. The whiners are continually told that's the case by the non-whiners yet they still want Mazda to "fix" it. Perhaps they should offer to install a Miata engine in place of the Renesis to the people complaining about fuel economy.
