We put the Uzi in a gun vise one day and a target about...I wanna say 20 yards out or so and it never hit the same spot twice....its kind of one of those "If you absolutely have to clear a street, this is the gun for you" type guns.

Yeah they pretty much suck altogether but they are intimidating and once you light em up you can clear a street just from the sound of a short burst.

:lmfao: that is so funny I always hear about people trying to take uzi's to a range and they end up jsut scareing everybody not hitting the target.

I'd stray away from a Beretta 92FS, just because they can sometimes be rather finnicky(sp?) when cleaning and consequently, when firing.

Mossburg 500, or if you can afford it, a 590. Low to high $200's.
For a rifle, Yugo and Albanian SKS's are cheap now. Around $90-150 depending on condition, they work, but are too long for inside-the-house work.
For a pistol, look for a CZ-52. Buy an aftermarket steel firing pin for it and it'll last forever. They run $100-125 in the surplus market, and 7.62x25mm (.30 Mauser) is availible in good quantity now.
My home defense weapon is a Mk.II, a civilian AK-74 clone. It's the smallest firearm I have.
spankaveli: that second one you posted is probably classified as an NFA AOW (National Firearms Act, Any Other Weapon), with takes hella paperwork for a civilian to buy.

btw not all SKSs are too long

I hope that SKS is a pre-90 import that had that junk on prior to '90.
I'm not a fan of the ATI folders or the duckbill mags, or 20" barrels without the original bayonet.
I like my SKS-M better. It takes standard AK mags and has a 16" barrel, straight from the factory. It's one of four SKS's of mine.

[B..... On top of all that have you ever pointed a gun at a person with the intent of using it?
I doubt you have and I seriously doubt if the situation came up that 9 out of 10 people could actually pull the trigger, not to mention live with the consequences of such an act. [/B]

i have my permit & carry a glock. i have three in the following calibers: 9mm - .40s&w - .357sig
i also have a .38/.357 magnum revolver i keep in the car @ all times & a nice 12 gauge "riot gun" type shotgun for the house.
i have only pulled my gun twice in self-defense, & have fired it once on an intruder in my house.
if you get a permit, make sure to look into liability insurance cause if you shoot somebody & it isn't deemed justifiable, not only are you fuked as far as the law, but you open yourself up to a lawsuit.
