why the fawk does the ide bus have to change to pio mode when it has a problem reading something, stay in friggin DMA!!!!! or give me an error screen telling me the disc is dirty don't change to PIO and lag up the pc forcing me to uninstall the ide channel then re-boot and pray it's in DMA on the first boot I HATE YOU BILL I HOPE YOUR XMAS SUCKS!!!!!!

odd...my XP pro gives me no problems. But i'm also running a SATA hard drive.

it's my dvd-rom drive, at least 1x a week it has problems reading a disc, and windows fix for bad discs is changing the ide setting from DMA to PIO after 3 retry's. Don't change it to PIO tell me to get a new disc... Then I have to go into control panel>system>device manager>IDE> uninstall secondary ide>restart>pray it re-installs and is set to DMA2h:

I know this problem all too well, and today I just snapped at it.

if you hate it why use it?

yuo try substituting a new drive, i know my CD rom is fudged up....or update the bios, that has stopped blue screens for me

it's not the drive, it's the media I put in ith: ppl who rent the dvd's don't know how to properly handle them, sometime's I think their pets must put them in the dvd player:thinking:

might be yor drivers...have you updated your drivers since you installed it.

My DVD ROM drives work just fine on XP Pro.
