theres a command that hides your comp on a network
something like "netconfig: hidden/yes"
someone told me a couple years ago and i always forget the syntax

I also use command prompt for user account issues with a domain. Instead of opening Active Directory here, it's easier to run NET USER <name> /DOMAIN and see what groups the account is a member of, the last time it logged on, when the password expires, and if the account is active/inactive/locked.

On a system that has DNS specified and still the same problem... it's a winsocks.

i loved dos.
dos was still the basis for win95, and win95 OSR2

I hated having to allocate memory to himem to play my demos

Back in the day, I had a 386/25. Even after I got Windows 3.1 I still used DOS most of the time. Windows used up too much system memory to run the games I wanted. (The old Bill Gates -- "who could ever need more than 640k system memory?")

I've tried to get DOS to run on my current XP system so that I can run some old-school games, but haven't been able to get it to work.
