Live on your own? What are your average monthly costs? Average 1BR apartment costs about $800-1000/month in NY

I need to move out of my 'rents before I go :screwy:

I live with a roommate. For their largest two-bedroom apartment, washer and dryer, and a two car garage, we pay $730 a month.

Same here. Problem is that paying rent at an apartment is about as good as throwing it in the toilet. The other problem is that I pay $500/mo in bills ($400 for school loans) so I need to be making mad skrilla to be able to support myself.

$500 bills
$500 rent
$200 food
$100 utilities
$200 misc fun stuff
--------
$1500 /month = $12.50/hr just to break even

i live with a roomate. 2bdr 1-1/2 bath condo for $1800 a month. and it sucks because i could be saving that money for a house, but instead it goes to the landlord who's basically getting the condo for free (see we pay his mortgage).

I live on my own.

I have a 3rd floor penthouse apt with loft: $780 a month, normally $940, but I got move in special.
Car insurance: $160 a month, I cut it down from $260 by changing companies
Loan payment: $104
Electric around $80
Magazine subscriptions: $30
Telephone $25
Cell $50

I make around $15 an hour so I get a few hundred for myself each month. If I weren't lazy and got my MCSA certification, I'd be making quite a bit more cause my manager wanted to transfer me, but couldnt without the cert. :happysad: I'm too lazy to take tests.

i live with my roommate and an apt mate
2bd/2bth = 1900

for my room (that I shared with my roommate), we covered $1100 of the rent, so I paid $550, plus other utilities so about $600 a month.

Luckily, that's the only thing I have to pay or else I'm assed out seeing how I work 15 hours a week making $9.61 an hour =P

For rent I pay $575.00 which is for a two bedroom apartment. It also is a split entry and thus has a up and down stairs. It has 1.5 bath and comes with washer and dryer hookup's. We pay about $35.00 for electric and then for phone we just use our cell phone's. Its really not that bad if you budget and then live by that budget. Yet that is what my wife and I struggle with is living by our budget.
