My roommate and I like it so much that he went out and bought a brand new one not a month and a half ago. Yellow, sport suspension, six-speed 1.8 turbo, factory recaro seats, numbered plaque, I'd consider it the ITR of VW. Unfortunately, he was rear-ended two weeks ago and it's in the shop for repairs. I have pictures of the damage, I'll try and get them scanned in.

but they do have many similar equipment.
both the 337 and the 20th AE have 6speed.

I was dead even with one from a 70 punch before I got my manifold. You can only get a 6 speed in the vr6.
