the only info i've seen about the mazdaspeed miata shows 170hp. where did you read 200+

hard to have an exotic that only costs $39K
i still dont think it will end up classified as a sports car by insurance...which i guess is what the real implication is here?

what is the MPG supposed to end up with that thing?

dont get me wrong, that car is by far greater than anything else ive ever TOUCHED with 4 wheels, and it will end up in my stable at some point. hell, it aint even that much more costly than far lesser cars.

Not sure on the MPG. I do know the gearing is the same as the Corolla GT-S? in europe which is a bit narrower...

or was that the speculation and it turns out to have the same gearing as in the US spec GT-S?....

but low 30s is my guess like 31ish if not high 20s.

Which is good considering it only has a 12gal tank or was that 10.5? either way it's going to be tiny.

30 is a fawking pipe dream. or its on european spec emissions. they choke our cars so bad...i dont see that being too likely.

The Celica GT-S is rated at 24 city/33 highway. The same motor (even though it's tuned to make a little more power) in a car that weighs 600 lbs less will get way better mileage.

It's not like adding 10 hp to the motor is a quantum leap in gas guzzling. Less weight equals better mileage, that's it. Putting the same engine in a car that is 600 pounds lighter guarantees better mileage. Maybe it'll be rated at like 27 city/38 highway but that's still pretty solid.

So when you stick an intake, header and exhaust on a GSR it suddenly loses a ton of mileage? That's not what happens. Taking 600 lbs out of the car will have much more of an effect than adding 10 hp.

i was thinking more along the lines of larger porting and higher redline.

and yeah, if you lose 2-5mpg doing an IHE is likely. also, the celica GTS is proly at the noise limits for exhaust an intake as is, as well as emissions for that matter.
