Yup.
Most of the time, when a vehicle is auctioned, there's really nothing wrong with the car. Dealers use the auction to "trade" autos at sometimes less than 60% of blue book value. Getting into one of these babies? good luck.
I managed to score a Manheim auto auction card, because my uncle owns a car dealership, and listed me as a "registered employee, authorized to make such transactions." I bought my jetta at auction, and the only thing wrong with it was a $40 MAF sensor and crappy tires. I paid 9,700. BB value is over 17k.
A car will be sent to auction mainly if the dealers just dont want to sell it, or feel they wont make enough profit on it... I.E... a luxury car dealer has no use for the accord/sentra/jeep that he got on a trade in.
... on another note... i'm curious as to who actually judged the jetta to be the "most gay vehicle." I, too, have seen that site... but what qualifies this car as being gay? There are plenty of other cars i'd consider gay WAY before the jetta.... including but not limited to.. beetle, suzuki aero, toyota echo, neon, etc.
