I'll quit bitching if in 10 days this shit is done and I don't have to magically find another $15k to go to school for another semester. Gee let me see... I have a $20k loan and now I gotta find another $15k to go to school for another semester. That should make me sleep really well tonight.

do you guys make up your own project from scratch, or is there like a big design prob that you are assigned?

If you guys have a school like ours make sure that you have the budget carved in stone and signed in triplicate. We were offered $1k for our project during SD 1. Then beginning of this semester I was called in and told $1k was too much, $700 was about right. A week later told $700 was too much and that $500 was what we were getting. Then called a month later and told we were going to have to do a redesign because $300 was all we were getting. The team is funding part of the project, because we realized with $300 we weren't gonna accomplish much.

There are set projects, some choose those and some design their own. We had a pretty crappy selection so we chose our own project. Kinda good in a way because it shows we are capable of independent thought, but it also means no one can help us since there are no old projects to look at and the advisors don't know much based on prior experience.

I know. Our Sr. Project advisor is a complete tool. We meet with him every week to iron out details, more than every other group...and every week we get more confused about what he wants from us. He always comes up with new ideas of things for us to do, steering us away from what we were originally supposed to do. Luckily, we got $1k of outside funding for our project, and he promised us another $500-1k.

I am paying out of state, don't have financial aid or a scholarship because our school doesn't like helping foreign students. I am completing my program in 3.5 years, putting in the extra effort to graduate early and save money.
