I go on 1-2 week long trips each year. Been to Cancun twice, that's my personal favorite.

I don't go on any real vacations usually. Just trips to SD once or twice a year.

I take 2 weeks in the fall to help the in-law's harvest potatoes. Nothing like running a truck for twice as many hours in 2 weeks to refresh...

I used to never take vacations because I used to work mon-thurs workweeks and every weekend was like a 3 day weekend. We would take trips to twin cities, chicago etc all the time and that was enough for me. Now, my employer's "logistic re-alignment" leaves me working 6 days a week with a commute that's 30 miles longer each way. So, yes, I really need to start taking vacations. Not to mention I have 26x,xxx onepass miles..

Does anybody have experience booking vacations thru costco? They seem to be a good deal.

I go to the beach a couple times a year. It's easy when they're 2 hours away. I also usually make it up north for a week or so to see family. Headed there at the end of the month.

I'd like to do something big before I start medical school next year though. Traveling makes me anxious.

We normally do one "big" trip each year for a ~1 week, a 4-6 day trip to Texas around Christmas/New Years to visit my family, and ~2 long weekends a year to visit the wife's family in Santa Fe NM. Our big trip is normally in the $1500-$3k range for the two of us depending on what we are doing, and often involves a beach. I really like taking the vacay -- I can't imagine not taking any vacations. As of November I'll have been in a "benefit-eligible" position for 9 years at my current company, which will bump me up form 23 days of PTO/year to 28 days of PTO. Looking forward to that.

I make an effort to show off my body at Vegas pool parties at least once a year

My wife and I love taking vacations, like Dave I would smash some skulls in if I didn't take a big vacation once a year. We've been going out of the country (2 weeks vacation) once a year for the past three years and we're planning to keep this going. We've gone to Vietnam/Tokyo in 2010, Italy 2011, and Spain 2012. Next on the agenda is France. I need to take my vacation now though.

With the little one here, I don't really feel like lugging baby stuff around so we haven't really taken a vacation in the last 2 years.

We're both long overdue for one, 60+hr weeks the last two years is starting to take a toll on my attitude towards life h:
