Default Spark plug info needed?

I decided to check my plugs the other day, to find them with whitened tips and semi white electrodes. to the best of my knowledge and research, this means i'm either running too lean, or the plugs cannot withstand the heat of my current setup.

the odd part is that i've never had this whitening happen before. i tend to change plugs every 3 oil changes (8-9k) since its only about 9 bucks. in the last 7k miles or so, I've had my dc 4-1 header in. does that have anything to do with whats going on?

also, since i'm burning oil, kind of....wouldnt my spark plugs be fouled too?

The guys in the other forums dont respond fast enough. Most of the tech-saavy guys post in the basement more than anywhere else anyway.
