ive always thought that was very impressive too...
but in america...torque is equally important...
high efficiency engines do not have torque...thats the downfall...

btw...ive always thought that bmw = honda on steroid

That's weird. I don't see them related at all. Honda doesn't even make any RWD sedans.

uhhh no, this Hp per liter is just an excuse. you can make teh same amount of power from a larger engine and have it come in to paly at a more reasonable RPM not to mention more Tq. dont get me wrong teh ?c20? is a marvle of a engine but would you want to be reving taht high in a street car?

Speaking of efficient, high revving engines, the s14b23 in the e30 m3 also impressed me. The 2.3 liter 192 hp engine redlined at 7200 rpm and this was developed in the 80's.

Just for grins and giggles.

Yeah the engines I suppose. I don't really know much about BMW engines. And BMW makes mostly sedans which are all RWD as far as I can tell. When most people think of BMW they probably think of 3-series, when most people think of Honda they probably think Accord or Civic. Not exactly similar in that sense.

Something like that, I don't remember.

But I read that back in the 80's, a m10b20 engine with turbo that BMW motorsport developed for their f1 cars had 1200 hp+ and this was with like 50 psi of boost I think. They didn't really know the exact power of the engine because the dyno chart stopped at 1200 hp.

That m10 engine is pretty similar to the m10b18 in the e30 318i in 84-85. Everyone complains about how crappy that engine in the car is but little did they know you if you built it right and boost the hell out of it, you can make tons of power.
