Remote connection to my computer, how?
Here's what the Virtual Server looks like on my router (attached).
Find out if the builtin Microsoft VPN app accesses over TCP or UDP (or both), and which port (or ports). Then, all you do is enter your comp's specific IP address into the associated box, and hit "apply".
I have an Xsense, but Linksys are just as good, and should have a similar interface.

There are also programs out there that you could use. I use SMS and Radmin at work to connect to other machines. You have to have the other machine setup and installed with the client in order to properly connect. For example when I use Radmin I have the end user click on a Batch file I have setup on one of our Public drives. I have it configured so that when they do that it generates a text document with their IP address and computer name. It also installs the client stuff needed and removes it from their machine when I close it.
Well if you just want to transfer files an FTP server set up on a secure box will do just fine. I found this to be most useful when working in the lab on programs and being able to shoot them right over to my box where i know they'll be safe.
uhh. All you need is port forwarding. I wouldn't recommend the DMZ trick... too much of a security risk.
Just open the port(s) that XP's remote access needs on the linksys router and point them to your internal machines IP.
Then when you're somewhere else on campus, just put in the IP and there you go.
