According to Dodge's marketing department it's not a Neon.

But it's still a Neon.

But technically it is and Dodge just doesn't put a Neon badge on it.

It is both a Neon and not at all a Neon.

Something I must know:
Why is it some of you would consider owning an SRT-4? Even though you acknowledge that it is more or less stripped down and built for speed alone? For example

I can think of another american made car that you can buy for UNDER $20K that has 305+ WHP, rear wheel drive, limited slip differential, and a really tough 6 speed. It also WILL run 12's stock on some sticky tires, and has FAR more potential that an already boosted little 4 cylinder. Yet, due to poor sales, this model was discontinued..... I thought you guys did the import thing because "they're more reliable" or "it's more of a challenge" or "because I want to be different" and therefore would not be interested in a little cheap american muscle, no matter what the form. Very confusing....

BTW, please don't compare ANY neon to a Hemi Cuda. Ever.

Well of course they are in completely different classes, but dude you KNOW the hemi cuda wasn't 20 grand (real prices, not nominal), brand new, with a warranty. The Cuda is 20 years old and is now only hitting below 20 grand.

I think you are the only one to compare the srt-4 to a hemi cuda...the rest of us didn't say anything about it.

Well let's see here.

I'm not an "import guy" and I could give half a fuck about drag racing.

I really have nothing against muscle cars, the new ones just don't happen to be my style. I'll take a nice '71 Corvette with a 383 and TWM ITBs though.

I ahd this neon next to me acting all bad. so i revved and beat it off the line. next thing i know i hear a blow off valvew and a turbo spool up and the thing flies past me. oh man i got my ass handed to me. now if it handled better and came in 2 door version. or awd something to make it handle better. all chrysler cars, Mercede's is making all its american car companies go AWD or RWD by the year 2005/2006

You really thing that Chrysler and Dodge are going to sell rwd econoboxes?

The only thing that's going rwd are their big sedans.
