Default Televisions -- what's good these days?

My wife and I are moving into a new house in about 6 months, and one of the stipulations is that I get a new television for our great room. We are looking at 55"-65" (depending on price) and want one that is LED. That is the extent of what I know, and looking for some guidance.

Is it worth it to get a smart tv? Are the video cameras that come with some televisions worth it? Is 3D worth it?

I for one will not pay for any current 3D-ready TV's. Gimmick right now IMO.

Is 70 inches that much of a difference from 65?

Reviewers are even saying that 3D is the biggest flop of 2012. If I remember...less than 10% of TV's sold are 3D. Also...until it is a passive or TV system, people don't like wearing the glasses...plus those glasses are $$$$$

Okay, so 3D tv is out. What about a Smart TV. Couldn't hurt to have Netflix/Skype on the TV itself

I have a panasonic smart tv and absolutely love the fact that I have netflix/hulu/amazon/vudu/skype/etc all built into the TV instead of me having to hook up a media pc or even a blu ray player with those capabilities. With the tv being wall mounted I wanted as little clutter as possible so I ran the CAT5 cable/tv cable/power into one of those recessed boxes behind the TV so it is super clean. I would say 3D is stupid, but smart TV is where it's at.
