I have an ass load of ammo(obviously) but I have a specific stash of loaded mags for just such an occasion. I don't have a "bug out bag" but I keep some extra food supplies available. I also keep some everclear around. Why everclear? Disinfectant, painkiller, fire starter, basically it has a lot of good emergency uses.

My bug out bag is just my usually long haul backpacking/hiking pack that I keep fully stocked in the basement. I could live out doors for a minimum of 2 weeks without having to find any outside food, and water filtration that would suite my needs for a long time. My super lightweight backpacking tent/sleeping bag/etc would provide shelter down to -20F. Strap my 12 gauge and some ammo along with a appendix carry and spare ammo, and I am good to go.

I watched enough Survivor Man and Man vs Wild to be prepared for anything.

All I really have are Medical Supplies and a lot of LED flashlights.

In Louisiana I have friends.

In Illinois I have two farms, enough firepower for a small militia, and plenty of resources to get by. I mean shit, we have three cabins sitting on ponds in woods you'd never find.

too bad I'm in IL about 3 weeks per year.

Yeah I got the full camping setup.. bags, 10 person tent, propane grill/stoves/lanterns, etc. But unless my house was inhabitable, I wouldn't need to use it. If forced to leave due to structural damage, I would send mar and family to the hotel and I'd guard the house and set up camp.

I have stripped my kit down over the years and basically what I need is my bacpack with 3changes of clothes, my boots, knife, some line and a couple fish hooks and a couple books of matches to survive comfortably for quite a while.

The less I have, the more mobile and concealable I am and if it comes down to an SHTF situation that is what I want.
