Let me be the first (in this thread) to say Congrats!!

I'm sure as hell you don't need me or anyone here on this board telling you what a responsible person would do or wouldn't do
All I can say is you've got a determined gf and that should say alot of her character! It's something that you should treasure

I've seen plenty with kids and still go through school just fine like everyone else.

of course keep the kid.

1. Take a step back and realize all of this happens for a reason.
2. Use this as motivation to completely wrap up school faster. (18 hour loads, 9 credit hour summers, work full time)
3. Keep doing what you're doing in life. (work especially)

There is no quick fix. Nothing is ever easy.

The only thing you can do is improve yourself while keeping a bigger goal in sight, not just surviving on a day to day basis.

I agree with the finishing up school with an agressive approach. Honestly, babies aren't as expensive as everyone makes it out be. Chances are you'll get almost everything you could possibly need (and stuff you won't need) from a baby shower. Encourage her to breast feed. It's free and it's the healthiest thing for the child. The priciest thing you'll have to worry about are diapers, maybe $20 a week or so.

I believe a major part of being a man is being able to identify issues, then doing all you can to resolve them.

You know what needs to be done.
- support the girlfriend
- support the child
- finish school
- earn money

Figure the way to accomplish all of these, not some.

They'll all be much easier when you earn an education ... but completely do-able without it. You can survive now. You can keep going. You just won't be in a better situation, you'll be frozen without that degree.

Also, don't forget, you both have family.

It'll be hard at first, but like you ... they'll adjust and accept. It's what they're there for. There's no way your parents, her parents, want to see you guys in a bad place.

Yes, I certainly considered taking as much of a course load as I could during the summer now that this happened. I also know that I am not the first person that this has ever happened to and that it happens everyday, probably more than we think. It's naive to think that it could never happen to you, although when it does, it is quite a bombshell. The benefit of her living in Albany with me is that we will not have to pay any rent, just utilities. Right now I live I a condo by myself that my mom owns. I think if Meleny gets transferred, my mom will put the condo in my name. This will take an enormous burden off our finances since Meleny will be getting paid Basic Allowance for Housing by the govt. so she can rent an apartment. She is a Marine Corps recruiter at the moment so she still gets all the great benefits like free medical and extra money for having a dependent. That is my biggest concern... The money...

Advice.....walk up a LONG set of stairs......

But one question: was she on birth control? did you spit in her w/o a condom? pull and pray not working? Im only asking because it sounds like an accident and I cannto condone accidents when there are near full proof ways to NOT get preggo.

But if I didnt read the thread in its entirety, I apologize and mean no disrespect at all.
