Default Buzzing noise from engine compartment

Hi guys, I have a 95 Integra SE. Everytime I start the car, I hear a buzzing sound from the engine compartment. Also, I hear it every now and then while I'm driving around town. From what I've looked up so far on the forum, it sounds like its the ABS pump. My ABS light is not on and brakes seem to work fine. I checked the brake fluid and it was full.

Should I be worried about the buzzing? Thanks.

That's the ABS pumping up. If it takes too long, it'll throw a warning light. Your ABS light should be lit for a few seconds when you start, right?

OK I just found my post about bleeding the ABS. /cut/paste/ here it is! This is for '94 to '97. Beginning in '98 there's a whole different system.

Get a clear hose that fits that ABS bleed screw, make it kinda snug. Put the end in a cup or jar or something. Take off the rubber cap & the funny plug underneath so you can fill the reservoir.

Start the engine, let it run till the ABS pump quits then turn it off. Carefully crack open the bleed screw. Too much too fast & it'll blow off the hose. There's enough pressure to inject brake fluid through your skin. Refill the reservoir.

Repeat the whole mess again & again until there's no air bubbles coming thru that hose. If air bubbles was your only problem, then you'll be all fixed after doing this maybe 3 or 4 times.

I'm no good with car stuff.

Would it fix the problem if I just brought the car over to say, Sears, and got them to flush and refill the brake fluid?

it doesn't need servicing, it's just pressurizing the abs lines.

But it does that sometimes even when I'm driving. Is that normal?

mine does on hot days if i'm running the brake system hard. heat = fluid expansion, if cooled down quickly (like sudden stop) it will repressurize because of the sudden drop in pressure.

Yes, mine does it too once in awhile when I'm driving. Maybe every 5 or 6 hours of driving time...

The ABS controller will turn on the idiot light if it happens more often than it should. Or if it takes longer than it should. Make sure the idiot light comes on when you turn on the car (bulb check), then don't worry about it.

So do the '94 - '97 Integras have a separate ABS fluid compartment, or is it the same thing as regular brake fluid?

yes, behind the passenger headlight is this almost suitcase-size reservior with 3 small tubes running out of it - that's the ABS. use dot3 or dot4 fluid.
