Eg94SI is right, you get what you pay for, a very high quality product that is more than just "hinges" So please dont shun it unless you've used it or at least seen it in action.

dude, im a dealer for them and I make very little off them, they do not make a killer product, everything is presisely made and very tichnical. they do not make a HUGE profit on these, again please dont diss it unless you accually know what you are talking about. if you dont like it just ignore it.

who said anything about their profit on the kit, you don't know how much they make on each kit and not to mention their profit is irrelevent.. however my point is this- if your trying to short cut it by buying cheap knock off mods- you get what you pay for.

your assuming that they can just pump these out one at a time, understand that they have months and months of test fitting and r&d into each kit, and on top of that they cant order just one kit from their manufacturer, they have to order a gross amount to make it worth it to the manufacturer that creates the "hinges".. i guess i own my own business so i can see where they are coming from.. if you owned your own.. you would have a different outlook on it..
im not saying im for or against this conversion. but ill give you my point of view. I work in the engineering/manufacturing industry and to fabricate a hinge is not that difficult nor expensive. the piston is a little more. the molds for the steel (or plastic) are very expansive. in excess of 10,000. once they pay for the molds. which would be about 6 or 7 of these kits they really are making a very large profit. considering the materials cost just dollars and even pennies in some cases. i havnt seen these kits so i cant be judgemental but from what you said was included. just a hinge and a piston. it is a tad over priced
the thing is that it is not just a hinge. it is more than that, its a bi-directional pivoting "hinge" its a masive peice of steel, 2 peices accually that is hidden in your fender. I have another kit that may be coming available soon that may be less exspensive and claims to be a better product, but we shall see. I know damn well that $1500 is a lot of money, but these guys are not making that much of a profit and neither am i, if you saw my price youw ould ask why i was really selling these... mostly just cause it fell in my lap and they asked me to be a dealer, so i figured why the hell not, im not gonna lose anything. im hoping that the new kit that is coming out, only available now for 2nd gen eclipses, will be what it says it is, cheeper and better quality, though that will be tough!

because the dealer doesnt make that profit, doesnt mean the company doesn't.. i sell cars, i know exactly what its like to make profit, from the dealer standpoint to the manufacturer.. and i know that at any given week, a manufacturer can all of a sudden throw in another $1 -2,000 in rebates... i'm selling new jeeps at 10 grand below msrp.. which is about 7.5grand below dealer cost....
like the dude a few posts up said, they make profit... not that they dont deserve it, but imo its a little steep, and so i wouldnt give me business to them...
imo its dumb to by a new car.. no matter how low you get the price.. the manufaturer will always win... take this scenario... my buddy is looking into a luxury sedan.. a dude at his work's dad is a top dawg at a BMW warehouse back east.. they have 600 2002 5-series that were never sold, they're pumping these out at $25k a piece... come on now think about it... $25K for a car that stickers at base $37.6K, whats that, 12K right off the bat?? pls
