wassup everybody...this is my first post here so move this if its on the wrong place. i am going to be getting my windows tinted pretty soon and was wondering what the restrictions are. how much % is allowed on each window? thanks.

 

welcome to the board but evry state id diffrent for example here in TX the front supposed to be 35% legal and they dont care about the rest but in my old car i had 20% and i never got stopped b/c of the dark windows but i did for speeding lol

 

DIY %20 all around ...never been hassled in WI but I know its illegal. Supposedly Hwy patrol has the most beef with tint...just an FYI

 

There is at least one website (I was there a while ago, but I can't remember it's address exactly) that gives all the %s for the different states. I'd do a websearch

 

Here in PA it's 75% I believe. That's like jaw-dropping unrealistic. Needless to say, I have a few friends who've been ticketed for their tint.

i had 20% all around...then 2 tickets in 2 weeks convinced me to take off the fronts...apparently a cop was shot through tinted windows last year so new york (well upstate anyway) is really cracking down. legal in NY is 70%.

 

tn is 35% all around unless it's a pickup & then it's 35% on front doors & anything from drivers head back.

mine is 5% on back & 20% on all 4 doors.

i was sideswiped by an 18 wheeler last week & when the state trooper came to do the acccident report, he knealed down & loooked @ my rear window, looked @ me & just shook his head & smiled, but no ticket

i think if its illegal & you roll the windows down as the officer approaches your car so he/she can see in, you probably wouldn't have a problem unless he/she was a hardass.
