Cool little mod I found...
The other week I was behind a fire truck which had LED tail lights... when the brakes were applied the brake lights strobed quickly and went steady, really draws your attention!
Now, I wanted the same thing for my third brake light because I already have an LED cluster mounted in there. It would also work great with a spoiler LED brake light.
I found this and decided to give it a try.
Its a cool little unit (which is the size of a honda keyless remote), which closely replicates what I saw on the truck. When the power is applied it makes the light strobe quickly in 3 sets of 3 quick flashes and then goes steady. I tried to make a small video of it, but it flashes so fast its hard to tell what its really doing in the video. Plus I dont know where to host a video.
Thought I'd share this with everyone, especially for people that have been rear-ended!

Like I said, its kind of hard to tell exactly what it does as the strobe flashes are so fast. When the light goes steady, it will stay that way untill you let off the brakes... when u apply them again it will start with the strobe and go steady again.

i dont think it's a good idea.
what if you slam on the brakes.
many people will think "what the hell is goign on" vs. holy shit hes braking... dont do it. that is unless you are unhappy with the current condition of your bumpers paint.

sereiously tho... if they flash like that people might not even know you are braking... say you slam on the brakes.. minimal traction, you'll have slowed down majorly by the time the flashing has stopped, but due to it flashing it just looks to the person behind you that you are tapping the brakes and not nailing them.
ontop of that it's illegal... you WILL get a ticket if a cop ever sees you using them.

What Sherwood is saying is correct...... I wouldn't modify the lights that are on the car.
However, the BMW 7 series has something rather interesting now that this has been brought up. In a panic stop (note, they only operate when full force is applied quickly to the brake pedal), all the lights (brake lamps, tail lights, turn signals, and even backup lights) go full brightness.
I'm guessing when those reverse lights go on, any one behind you is gonna hit the brakes even harder than you!
