one other question though, do i have a cheap hood because of this? i mean i see and hear of ads that say they can stand on their hoods, but then i see that they are only standing on OEM style hoods, ones without vents. I think that is why mine was prone to breakage.
Am i right or do i just have a cheap ass hood that i should park under a tree and let the birds shit all over?

CF is light as hell, w/ a hig htensil strength... but it is very britle. your hood isn't cheap juss cuz it cracked. it's juss CF

Yeh My hood has a minor crack in it near the latch could be caused by the tight fit on the hinge when shutting sucks too but its CF
