My paint has developed cancer....
It's not "Cancer"...it's just the clear fading off. "Cancer" is referred to rust, not clear coat. It will have to be sanded down, but not primered. If you want a Good job that will hold and don't to go the cheap ass way *cough*Maaco*cough*...then expect to pay about $750-1,000 or so to do the upper surfaces.
ok you cant tell me that no one here can paint? or even has a car buddy who can paint? if you CAN paint or know of a person who can then the best way to go about painting your car is this....
go to a local auto paint store and give them the paint code...
get a half a gal of the paint b/c when mixed with the reducer you will have 1 gal. of spray.
get your hardeners, primer, eurathane, and whatever else you wanna get. and get a buddy to help you spray it, you can turn your garage into a booth. just clean the piss out of the garage floor, walls, what ever is dirty and get a roll of plastic from a paint store and line the walls of the garage. take A/C filters and open the windows of the garage and tape the filters in the windows. now take box fans and place them on the outside of the windows to blow the over spray out. pull you car in set it up on jack stands and take the wheels off and shut the door....BOOM insta paint booth. its really works, Valspar sprays very well like this, i had a Civic that i painted like this and it turned out beautiful and glossy as hell. and i spent maybe 350 for Valspar paint and supplies.

Thats a lot more than clearcoat failure . Thats all the way down to the primer ..
Looks like touch up job gone terrible with an rotary and wool pad burning the paint to death + time to pave the way for more failure .

And cancer can be referring to clear coat problems and rust. Its referring to anything that starts out small then spreads quickly.
