Default Clear coat?

on my new/own-it-next-week 93 prelude si there is a whitish blemish in a circle shape behind the moonroof area. my mechanic friend told me its because the sun pratically burnt off the "clear coat".

What do I do about the clear coat? He thought it would have to get a whole new paint job. Is there a good way to have it touched up that I would do myself/or have a shop do?

any help would be great

You can't touch up clear coat. If you want it to go away, you're going to have to get it repainted. If it's just behind the sunroof...just get the roof repainted instead of the whole car. It shouldn't cost much (depending on the color) to get just the roof repainted.

Out by me Maacos wanted something like 250. They claim they need to strip the roof, acid wash it, and do all sorts of other bs. I had the same thing happening to me, I painted it myself.

They don't have to strip it. All they need to do (I know from experience) is Sand down the area that's fading with 180 grit, then the whole roof with 320, then wet sand it with 500 (maybe) and then Scotch Brite the edges.

I fixed your word...

I started doing little stuff like that when I was 18, with no experience. Granted my dad does own a Body Shop. I'm only 20 now, but I've been doing stuff like mixing paint, striping cars, sanding cars, disassembling/reassembling cars, masking cars & stuff for about 2 years. It's kind of a Catch 22, you can't get a job without experience, but nobody will train you so you can get experience. The way my dad got around to doing it is when he was 16 he started washing cars at a dealership...then when he turned 18 they asked if he'd be interested in body work. That was 31 years ago and he's been doing it ever since.
