Default Clear tails and PINK light! :(

Has anyone tried those LED 1157 bulbs they sell at places like AutoZone? I don't really want to spend $7 per bulb unless they're worth it. :\

I just put some clear tails on and the red bulbs look slightly pink. Will red LED 1157's really fix that problem? Are they anywhere near as bright as normal bulbs?

I wasn't able to find actual red 1156 bulbs for the turn signals, so I had to use a clear with a red "gel cap" and it looks really neon pink. Not a real big fan of having that color coming from my car. I'm probably just going to put some amber bulbs in there instead...

Is there anything I can do about the side marker 194/168 bulbs? I got red bulbs and I got red caps, but they look pink with or without the caps. I pulled them out for now.

I have tried using both 1156 and 1157 LED bulbs when I had clear taillights and both showed a nice deep red... at night. In the day, you can't see a damn thing. Plus with the turn signal LED's they automatically turn into "hyperblink" signals.

Your best bet would be to either paint the bulbs with the same paint people paint their taillights with (Transparent Candy Apple Red), paint the taillights red, or go back to stock.

yeah, those things are **** during the day you cant see them AT ALL. And since clear lenses are illegal you'de be better off to change the lense itsself, plus they are unsafe.

don't use clear tails...
if I rear ended you... I would make it your fault cuz of your illegal tailights..
(I read a story about a guy who was rear ended from another guy doing 90 mph.. but he blamed this guy's clear tailights and so he was at fault. so then the cop made it his fault and also gave him a ticket... and then insurance found out and dropped his insurance before he made the claim. so he had to pay everything out of his pocket)

Actually, that wont work here in CO. We don't even have to have a 3rd brake light installed out here. Just as long as I have 2 tail lights that emit red or amber for turn signals, white for reverse, and red for brake, then it's alright. I am supposed to have the reflector red, but that's irrelevant in a rear-ending scenario.

In any case, I got tired of how they looked after only two days so I took them off and put my stocks back on. The amber turn signals looked really sweet when lit up, but that was the only thing they had going for them. I'll continue with my plan to paint the clears...
