The cheapest/best way to have red lights with clear tails is to just spray paint the bulbs red. Don't use just any paint though or else it's gonna burn off. What I did was use the Hightemp engine paint and sprayed the bulbs with them. The paint won't burn off and the light emitted will be deep red depending on the thickness of the coat.

 

It's not a nice color combo.
