showcar = rice?
rice is buying stuff to make a car look fast, claiming that it is, when it's not...show cars aren't rice if u're building it just for show...taht's what it is, a SHOW car...as long as u know it's a car built for show, then that's fine...performance and show are two totally separate categories...i like'em both, i just hate when the two start getting mixed up and people start mistaking show cars for performance cars and give us all a bad name
Ever heard of Show-n-Go? One of my car clubs has a show category where your timeslip counts. It's called "Go Fast With Class" and a timeslip is required for the competition.
It didn't help me any... I'm definitely not the only DSMer with a polished engine because I always LOOSE. Sam S. has a bad-ass polished "King-of-Bling" Galant VR-4 that's slower than my bucket, he always cleans up that event, and he deserves it. I have one of the slower cars in the club, but Sam's is definitely the shinyest. The pics don't do it justice, it really has to be seen in person to fully appreciate what he's done to it. It's street legal, wins trophies, could be daily driven, and it runs 12's (with the 18" wheels). When he washes it, it gets done on jackstands and he details the undercarriage. :barf:
I have to say, it's a little ricey because of how hard everything's been over-done. The stickers have to go. But everyone's opinion is different. All the JDM parts (like the hood, back of the car, and the whole front end) are awesome, but almost none of them are visible in these pics.

PS: The POS Green one behind it with hood pins runs 10.98's and pulls a front wheel for about 25-30 feet. It isn't Sam's. You can't see the intercooler on it in that pic, but it's a huge bitch. True sleeper.
Show cars are cool if properly done. I use to do shows up and down the east coast for about 5 years, gave that up, got boring and the car was slow, but was properly done. I accomplished everything I wanted as far as show was concerned, awards,tv,catalogs,magazines what else can you ask for. I stripped the car dropped in a b18 and the rest is history. No more show.. now all go. Much more fun.
But show is a fun thing.. just do it right. But nothing wrong with having a clean car then can move =]
