Default Washing my car

I got some Kit car wash and wax concentrate, NXT tech wax, four applicator pads, six finishing towels, two foam sponges (would these scratch my finish) and I was wondering if I wash my car without claybaring it, is it bad to wax it? I will wash it very good but don't feel like buying/doing a claybar today, and want to wax it...Any ideas?

Thanks

I'd use a wool wash mit instead of a sponge to wash.

It's not bad to not clay before waxing. Infact, I'd throw in another step for when you clay bar, after--use meguiars colorX before NXT. It's a pre-cleaner type product and will help get it looking its best.

I'm saying if i skip the claybar part, is that bad. I used colorx last week after washing, too lazy to do it again. I got mad swirl marks though, it made the color look a little deeper and wet, but did not remove many swirl marks.

ColorX is really only a cleaner type product. Not much off the shelf is going to remove swirls.

And if the paint is clean, there is no chance of you hurting your paint.

Thanks mang, also picked up a Haynes manual for 15.00 bucks, good deal? I hear helms is better but for 50 bucks its a little much, especially because I won't do major work, just for taking off valve covers, and other misc. things.

Thanks again goober.

If you're really concerned, use a two bucket method.

One bucket with the detergent and water
One bucket with just plain water.

Rinse the mit after each panel in the plain water, then dunk it into the detergent water. This helps prevent small grime being dragged across the paint, and to keep your wash water clean for the same reason.

Thanks man, I'll try that out...Is it really bad if I can only do it in the sun? Because if I wait till sundown, I have about thirty minutes before its dark, and I plan to spend around two hours. Thanks.

Ehhhh...if you have some cloud cover it would be better. Just work a bit quicker. It should be fine.
