key marks on paint! what can i do?
hi, my civic has some key scratches dont by some bastard but i dont know who. is there some gel or anything that can fix it or shuold i need to spend some money and paint over it. thanks
That's going to be tough. Key marks are very deep and often hard to just 'hide'.
You may have to just get it repainted. Where are the scratches? Take pics.

They're hard to fix, let alone repair 100%. If it was just a line I'd go ahead and polish it out as best as possible (which sometimes is only about 50%...this means the whole visible scratch, sometimes the leading edge buffs out more and more but once you get to the deep part you can polish your heart out and it will take forever to remove the white, and you'll still have a scratch. With that said, you're taking away a small layer of paint each time, which a few times isn't bad but if you do it enough you can polish the clear coat away--and you don't want to do that, basecoat without clear isn't pretty. single stage(shiney non clearcoated) paint does not equal basecoat without clearcoat (murky) , anyway....the word "bitch" is going to be visible either way.
I agree with goober. I've taken alot of dings and scratches out of my car but never any made by keys. You're better off paying to have it done by a paint place that specializes in these sorts of things than attempting it yourself.
