paint question..
yesterday i backed into a two foot pillar and skimmed the corner of my rear bumper. There is no body damage so i was wondering if i would be able to fix this myself. i was wondering if i could just wet sand it down and use canned aerosol paint from a body shop and do it myself. i have some experience painting, but not much. it is only a grape fruit sized scrape and the paint is just slightly cracked. any suggestion of a cheaper alternative than taking it into a shop would be appreciated
thanks
thanks
Absolutly. But there are 2 problems. 1)-you need a ggod match, and they don't sell Honda touch-up aresol. So you would have to get the correct factory color and use a spray gun or a refillable aresol can. 2)-since you've never done this before you could make it worse.
the basic senario would be to wet sand it, paint it, wetsand, paint, (till you finally get a smooth coat w/full coverage) then a number (i'd guess about 5-8), of clear coats, then wetsand and polish. It's more detailed than that, and there are different ways some people do it. But thats the basic senario. The more time you put into it the better you'll hide it. Sorry to hear that by the way. I have a new accord and i know i'd probably commit suicide if i did that.

Check out my chip repair thread for a more detailed look on it.
