If you want old school go with the Vanilla Moose and Meguiars #16 combo. By far the best thing I could recommend to you for under $25 (combined, seperate both are about $12). I'm on my 6th week with it and it still beads up and shines like I just put it on. All I do is wash it with KIT Carnauba and dry using Eagle One Wax As You Dry. (the EO works awesome!)
Thanks redgoober4life. But i'm a bit confused when you say you're on your 6th week of VM and meguiers#16, but then you said "all i do is.....", then go on to mention 2 other products. Are you saying you use 4 different products?

KIT Carnauba is the car wash I use to wash it. Eagle One Wax As You Dry is a spray (kind of like a quick detailer) that gives the paint a slicker finish after washing and helps keep maintain the wax. They're not necessary, but they're good to have and not that expensive.

Easy to use, yes.
Smells great, yes.
Lasts long, I don't think so.

I found NXT to be hard to spread and not that easy to buff off.

And it smells like mint and jujubes.

Ok, after reading all this and researching these sealants and such, i decided to pass on it all and just go with regular carnauba wax. So what i'd like to know is, what is the absloute best carnauba paste wax available at local retailers like kragen or whatever? If you're gonna say Mquires, i already have that gold class stuff and don't like it at all. Also, whats a good totally non-abrasive cleaner to prep the surface as well as a non-abrasive can?

Well, people like the S100 pre-cleaner (very light abrassives, mild cleaning).

S100 paste wax (and the cleaner) are available at your Harley Davidson retailer.

#16 paste is, again, a good carnauba that is like S100 (a little harder to use, use it one panel at a time--apply to a single panel, take off of that panel, don't let it haze). It is more durable than S100, and probably one of the most durable waxes out there. The Vanilla Moose also has some cleaning ability, but you won't be able to get that locally.

Well, i just decided i'd try that new turtle wax platinum series. I'm able to get it anywhere, so i figured i'd give it a shot. Sounds like a major improvment over thier older waxes, which i've had better luck with than mguires and other brands that a lot of people seem to think are great but didn't do much for me. So if this stuff is near as good as the hype it may be just fine. Now i just gotta find the time to give my new EX-L it's very first shine. Can't wait to see that graphite pearl finish glowing !
