I had that problem too, the smell lingers for days, dry leaving the trunk (or whereever it spilled) and I trued Fabreeze, that just covered up the smell a little and supposedly that's good for odors.

a box of crushed charcoal will work. leave the hatch open in the warm days too, itll dry up fast.

if you can get the cloth liner out, take it out and run it through the wash, and let the cardboard air dry.

When i got my leather SI seats they smelled like smoke from the guy before....nasty. I tried febreeze and my car smelled like fruity smoke. Then i tried this stuff called odorcide and it worked pretty well. Has a nice crisp citrus smell that isn't too strong either. And i heard a non spill box of baking soda will help too...just leave it in the car somewhere.

also try a steam cleaner if you can get access to one that will pull out the gas smell and dirt as well.. if u dont have one you can always rent one which wil cost you a few bucks but its better than having your car smell like gas
